CEO & Founder, The Street Smarts · Community Engagement Manager, Wall Street Bound
Pipeline builder. Wall Street connector. Fixing who gets in and
who gets left out of American finance — one student placement
at a time.
Michael is on a mission to fix something broken in American finance:
the pipeline that decides who gets in. As founder and CEO of
The Street Smarts, a 501(c)(3) he launched in
December 2016, he has built a student-run, student-led organization
dedicated to helping students of color and underrepresented
communities launch careers in financial services and accounting.
TSS is not a resume workshop — it is a direct pipeline to Wall
Street, with active partnerships at BlackRock, AB Bernstein,
Dimensional Fund Advisors, and Morgan Stanley.
In 2021, Michael signed a Memorandum of Understanding with New York-based
Wall Street Bound, extending the mission across the country and joining
as Community Engagement Manager and California representative. TSS
recently launched a Value Fund designed specifically to support
under-resourced students in securing roles in financial services.
Michael holds a BS in Finance from Bradley University, and credits his
father, Frank Campbell — first Executive Director of the
Tri-County Urban League in Peoria, Illinois — as his lifelong
inspiration. Trust is not abstract when a young person bets their
career on a system that has not bet on them.
