Academically, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Bachelor of Science, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Global Business. His research explores how political, economic, and social forces shape global business strategies and entrepreneurship, with a special focus on combat veterans transitioning into business ownership.
His path was anything but easy. In 1994 he lost his mother to AIDS after witnessing her battle addiction and homelessness, and he has since overcome PTSD, depression, bankruptcy, and some of life’s darkest seasons. He chose to turn that pain into purpose and those obstacles into opportunities to serve — the foundation of everything he builds today.
Today JayR is an international motivational speaker, certified life coach, business consultant, author of multiple books, cartoonist, and podcast host, and the creator of the Lil Hood Motiv8tors children’s book and cartoon series — stories built to inspire young people with courage, resilience, confidence, and hope.
