Former Chairman & CEO, Jack in the Box Inc. · Consultant, The ExCo Group
Public-company CEO. Transformation architect. The rare executive
who led nine straight years of system same-store sales growth
and can still tell you exactly how trust is earned in the
boardroom.
Lenny spent nearly 20 years at Jack in the Box Inc.
(NASDAQ: JACK), including six years as Chairman and CEO from January
2014 to mid-2020. During his tenure he led the company through some
of the most consequential inflection points in its modern history
— the sale of Qdoba, a complete shift to an asset-light
franchise model, a rigorous strategic alternatives process, and a
complex $1.3 billion securitization transaction. Under his watch,
Jack in the Box closed nine straight years of system same-store
sales growth.
Today Lenny is a Consultant with The ExCo Group, coaching and
mentoring senior executives navigating the same inflection points he
handled himself. He serves as a Board Director for The Wills Group
and on the board of the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego.
He holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern and a finance degree from
Drexel. His voice in the book brings a rare contribution: real
public-company CEO perspective on what trust looks like when real
money, real franchisees, and real boards are in the room.
